Mary Roberson, Ph.D. conducts Ayurvedic consultations and treatments, as well as psychotherapy services. She is also a licensed massage therapist. Mary has studied Ayurveda since 1985 during her graduate school days, including the Ayurvedic approach to psychological concerns. She has taken courses of study with three Ayurveda schools: Wise Earth School of Ayurveda, Ayurvedic Institute and the Maharishi Vedic Medicine program.

In 1988, Mary received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Health Psychology, from Michigan State University.  She then taught in the Department of Psychology at the University of Dayton for six years.  In 1995 she relocated to Oak Ridge, the town of her birth, and established a private psychotherapy practice.  In May of 1998 she brought more people on board and founded the Ayurveda Center for Natural Healthcare.

In her psychotherapy practice, Mary specializes in a holistic approach (mind, body, spirit) that integrates the best of an ecclectic blend of Western psychotherapy methods (e.g., cognitive therapy, EMDR) and also the ancient science of Ayurveda (e.g., breathing practices, meditation, diet and lifestyle changes).

She sees primarily individuals (adult and late adolescents) and couples.   Her areas of expertises include emotion management (anxiety, anger, depression), health related concerns, relationship issues, life transitions (grief, job concerns, divorce).  She has a great deal of specific training in treating trauma, including the use of EMDR therapy.  For more information on EMDR, see  She accepts many commercial insurances, e.g., Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Humana, United Healthcare/United Behavior Health, TriCare, Aetna.
